What Happens in a Typical Massage Therapy Course?

massage therapy courseAt Harris School, students gain hands-on experience in practicing massage

Are you considering a career in the field of massage? Have you ever wondered what a typical massage therapy course is like? At the Harris School of Business, we offer over 15 courses where students learn everything from human anatomy to how to deliver a full body massage.

A typical massage therapy course at Harris is usually 40 to 80 hours, depending on the complexity of the course. Students meet in the classroom for some of the coursework, as well as the massage therapy lab where they receive hands-on training.

In a massage therapy course, “hands-on” training is truly hands-on. Students roll up their sleeves to practice massage on one another. They lie down on massage tables to receive massages from fellow students. Students learn to use massage oils, special pillows and linens, hot stones, and other tools of the trade. Staff members demonstrate new techniques on students, and also supervise students to help ensure that students are learning the techniques correctly and safely. If you are a hands-on person, this could be the program for you!
