Entering a Multi-Skill Health Technician training program can give you the clinical and technical skills to start a career assisting healthcare patients. As a Multi-Skill Health Technician you could work as a phlebotomist, nurses’ aide, or EKG technician. At the Harris School of Business’ Voorhees Campus, we offer a program that can be completed within nine months. Our program provides training on how to assistant patients, take and handle blood samples, and administer EKGs. In case you work in a larger facility, you’ll also learn skills for office administration.

How hard is it to become a Multi-Skill Health Technician?

Our program requires 34 credits, while providing hands-on training in cardiovascular technology and phlebotomy so you have all the experience you need before entering the job market.

Some courses you’ll study include:

  • Medical Law and Ethics
  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Basic Patient Care Skills
  • Phlebotomy Clinical Procedures
  • Cardiac Terminology and Pharmacology
  • Electrocardiography
  • Introduction to Holter Monitors
  • Cardiac pathology and EKG
  • EKG Procedures

Courses are divided into four modules that focus on foundations in patient care procedures, clinical processes, including phlebotomy, electrocardiography, and laboratory tests.

You’ll also undertake a 160-hour internship at a nearby health facility where you will gain supervised on-site job training. Your courses will take on the Voorhees, New Jersey campus.

What are the prerequisites for admission?

To be eligible for acceptance into the program at Harris School of Business, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent. You don’t need any previous experience or education in allied healthcare fields. However, meeting these requirements does not guarantee admission. Multi-Skill Health Technicians can work in a variety of healthcare settings. They find jobs in physicians’ offices, hospitals, laboratories, community care clinics, ambulatory care centers, and other health care centers. Many Multi-Skill positions are full-time.
