Career Readiness Seminar Energizes Students

career training in njGuest speaker demystifies the process of searching for a job

Mount Laurel, NJ – The Harris School of Business is committed not only to training students for the on-the-job skills they will need in their new careers, but also to helping students develop their career readiness skills.

To this end, the Harris School is working with nationally-known career-readiness consultant Rick Sears. Last month, Sears conducted a three-hour seminar for students enrolled in the Harris School’s career training programs in South Jersey and central New Jersey. The goal was to demystify the job search process, and build students’ knowledge and confidence in career-readiness skills.

He focused on marketing yourself, networking, developing a professional online presence, and building better resumes and cover letters. He also presented advice on how to get started in a new career field, when you are fresh out of a training program. He emphasized that making a good impression is half the battle, and discussed the do’s and don’ts when it comes to professional appearance and behavior.

Students were energized by the seminar, and provided this feedback:

“This workshop has re-ignited my fire for my career and path to success.”

“Rick Sears has given me motivation and has made me want to go home and work on a perfect resume.”
