Sample Patient Care Technician Courses
The student will receive practical information and instruction in phlebotomy.
Students will concentrate on determining heart rates, normal sinus rhythms; knowledge, location and function of Ectopic Foci; and recognize signs of rapid ectopic rates and rhythms, irregular rhythms, escape beats, premature beats, first second and third degree heart blocks.
The Medical Terminology course will provide the student with a comprehensive background in medical root words, prefixes, and suffixes. The course will also give instruction on the body structure, directional terms anatomical planes, quadrants and body systems. This course will continue to provide the medical assistant student with study of medical terms for the following systems: integumentary, musculoskeletal, and endocrine.
Certified Nursing Assistant - Instruction
This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to acquire confidence in direct care giving. The course emphasizes the nursing knowledge and skills needed to care for individuals in skilled nursing, long term care and home care settings. It provides a humanistic, holistic and restorative approach to care. The procedures and concepts learned will prepare graduates for entry level nursing assistant positions. It provides the student with practical information and techniques based on current practices in compliance with Federal OBRA and the State of CT regulations. This course will enable the successful student to take and pass a certifying exam for Nursing Assistant.
